Site Considerations / Design

Carrie, John and I had our first site meeting to go over the following:

  • Boring Hole locations from GFK & Assoc.
  • Creek Boundaries
  • Prevailing Winds (predominately from the west but occasionally in the winter from the east)
  • Sun - the main entertainment / pool / rear yard to be on the south side
  • Front door to relate to existing residence
  • Smaller porch out front with larger porch off of rear side (to help protect vs southern sun)
  • Driveway to curve to the east with sports court on the south-east side
  • Pool House / Bungalow (guest cottage) on the south-west side (pool in the middle - or south side)
  • Kitchen (East) -> Dining -> Family -> Entry -> Living (West) with book-end fireplaces in Kitchen and end of Great Room (east - west)
  • 2 Kids rooms, 1 master suite, 1 office, 1 mud-room / laundry
  • 2 Car attached Garage with a number of carports (detached)
  • Possible metal roof (perhaps rusted look)
  • Interior exposed roof trusses in great room
  • Perhaps dormers for lighting the ceiling in great room
  • Around a 3,000 s.f. house
