Great discussion yesterday. I discussed the idea of the patio stairs at the bend from the patio off the breakfast nook (834) to bring us down to a landing at 830 in front of the kitchen (section 4) and she really liked it. Since the town's red line was at 830, this coupled with our compromise of dropping another one foot, I think this is a viable option to explore with the town.
Also, just did some discussion with christine and brainstorming on the additional section through the guest bedroom the town is requesting. So it looks like guest bedroom is at 836/837? So we could do a step down like off the courtyard to a patio landing, (big enough for a little table and chairs?) and then just "re-create" the hillside there with fill to make a slope down to 826 which I believe is the grade where the "path" connects the BBQ area to the main patio area off the courtyard (at +/- 825).
I know we dont want to go crazy with fill but in this case we only need to go 12 feet to get us to the next section which the town is already ok with.
I made a crude diagram trying to illustrate this. If the 2-3 feet step down off the guest bedroom isnt enought, could we do 4 feet?
I noticed also in the town's redline of section 4 they made a "curved line" from about 823.5 down to 821 which I think also utilizes this strategy. Let me know what you think-- thanks- jeff
