The truth is it doesn’t.

It is not the social network itself that creates value, it is the members who participate in the network, primarily for their own gain, that ultimately create value for themselves and the other members of the network.

Allylocal is a tool that local business owners can utilize for their own personal gain—making connections, sharing knowledge, combining resources, and creating mutually beneficial business alliances.

If you are here to see if allylocal can magically increase your business profits, good luck to you. If on the other hand you are ready to reach out to begin collaborating with your fellow small business owners—finding out what you have in common, how you can benefit from each others experiences, determining how you can leverage each other strengths while making up for weaknesses, and developing ways to combine resources to create increased value to all, then welcome.

  • I’m pretty excited about AllyLocal.  So far I’ve set up My Page and customized it for my business.  I now have links to my company web-site, Twitter, Facebook etc.  It was really easy and that’s great.  But what I really like is that through my connection to Creative Marketing Resources’ Scott Hiner I found out about a really helpful business called Four Square where I signed up for a free 14 day trial.  I used the site to change my business website from just O.K. to pretty good, considering I’m a finance guy and don’t know much about web design.

  • So how do you as a new memeber participate and create value?

Start by creating your own page under My Page.  Use the default presentation but if you want you have the ability to customize it with built-in tools.  Introduce other businesses to the site or find some existing members that you may want to form an alliance with.  Join or create a new group for that alliance and share ideas, events, promotions etc... among the alliance.  The collective collaboration will help grow your business.

Realize that you'll be at a competitive advantage if you have alliances compared to the typical business that thinks and operates as a sole entity amoung what they perceive as competitors (these can really be your allies).
